MEET RAFI CHOWDHURY
Rafi is a writer and a regular contributor to publications such as HuffPost, Thought Catalog & Business.com. He is also a Recruiter for Randstad and Google. In his free time, he loves playing competitive chess.
From Boredom to Appreciation
Rafi learned to play chess from his dad and uncle at the age of 10. Rafi initially only played his friends and family, usually winning against them and he finally played his first chess game in a tournament at the age of 15. While Rafi won all of his first games and tournaments, he ultimately ended up massively losing tournaments, causing him to gain perspective as a chess player. Rafi is currently working towards becoming a Chess Master.
During this episode, Rafi touches on a number of themes that he has learned during his journey towards becoming a chess master. All of these, he believes, is translatable into the worlds of business and personal development.
The Amazing World of Chess
Rafi explains that chess teaches decision-making skills, consequences to every move, patience, and the requirement for time and effort amongst other things (covered during the podcast).
“Understanding how very small actions -or lack of actions- can later down the road have major consequences and detrimental effects is seen in chess, but also seen in business and in life.
