Listen to this episode to learn more about a major shift in HR practices, how 3rd party HR firms ease stress in companies, and how you, as an employer or employee can both, discover your own depth and humanize the world of work.
MEET CORRINE ISHIO
Corrine’s journey began in HR and culminated with dissatisfaction with the 9-5. From there, she launched My Working Soul. Corrine says, “I not only use My Working Soul to illustrate my own personal journey, but also to follow and support the journey of others”. She says everyone has a soul journey.
In her experience in human resources, Corrine has found that the field is shifting its approach. “It’s definitely a time of dynamic change for HR professionals and it’s definitely warranted.” Changes are happening for HR professionals, moving things towards 3rd party consulting with external firms. It helps to avoid conflict of interest for employers and creates equity for both employers and employees.
FROM HR TO MY WORKING SOUL
In her work, Corrine eventually pivoted her services from just talent acquisition, but also to supporting entrepreneurs from the start of their journey -e.g, executive coaching- to the end of their journey -when they are ready to hire their first employee. She’s learned that she has much more in herself to offer clients, further contributing to their transformation.
Work often defines who we are and how we experience life. To humanize the workspace, create a safe space where everyone is represented and can feel included, have access to resources, and have a hand extended to them through dialogue.
MY WORKING SOUL
Corrine attributes her ability to intuitively grow her career to listening to cues in her own career journey. From there she was able to identify some of the broken areas in HR. For example, the employer-employee relationship seemed unequal by design. This not being the fault of employers, but rather due to common practices within HR. Corrine observes that not all employees are reaping the benefits of the post-COVID era and that there is a lot of work to do.
“This relationship of work is not working for all of us, and we need someone to facilitate that change in a positive way.”
